ATTORNEY PROFILES
John H. Davis ()
graduated
from the University of Denver College of Law and was
admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1989. While a law
student, Mr. Davis was awarded the American
Jurisprudence Award in Trial Practice, was chosen as a
research assistant to the Dean of the College of Law and
was selected for the College of Law National Moot Court
Team. Prior to law school graduation Mr. Davis was hired
as an intern and then as a student attorney with the
Denver District Attorney's Office. Following graduation
from law school Mr. Davis was appointed to the position
of Deputy District Attorney with that office. In 1998
Mr. Davis left his position as Senior Deputy District
Attorney to accept a position as Special Counsel with a
Denver law firm, working primarily on a major
international intellectual property lawsuit in the U.S.
District Court for the District of Colorado.
In early 1999 Mr. Davis founded Davis Law Offices, P.C.
and in addition to his extensive criminal defense
practice, Mr. Davis has represented many individuals and
businesses in civil rights, employment law and
commercial litigation, including real estate,
partnership, non-competition, unfair trade practices and
contract disputes, consumer fraud issues, wage claims,
insurance bad faith, product liability claims and lemon
law matters.
Mr. Davis has tried dozens of jury trials and has
handled complex civil cases in state and federal courts
and all levels of criminal cases throughout Colorado,
including white collar crime cases, sex offense
allegations, and other major felonies. Additionally, Mr.
Davis has participated in numerous mediations and
arbitrations and has represented clients in many
administrative hearings. Mr. Davis is a member of the
National Employment Lawyer's Association, the Colorado
Plaintiff's Employment Lawyer's Association, the
Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Denver, Arapahoe
County, Colorado, and American Bar Associations. Mr.
Davis is a frequent consultant to the Tom Martino
Troubleshooter Network and has lectured at the
University of Denver College of Law on Civil Rights
laws.
Lisa K. Shimel ()
graduated from the University of Denver College of Law
in 1983 and is admitted to bar in Colorado, the U.S.
District Court for the District of Colorado and U.S.
Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit.
Ms. Shimel has been in private practice since law school
and has represented many individuals in commercial
transactions and litigation. Ms. Shimel's clients have
included numerous banks, mortgage companies and similar
commercial clients. Ms. Shimel is a frequent lecturer on
bankruptcy, secured transactions, financial privacy,
real estate and title insurance to banking and legal
professionals. Ms. Shimel is a member of the Denver,
Colorado and American Bar Associations and the Colorado
Women's Bar Association. Her areas of practice include
Lending, Real Estate, Contracts, Commercial and Real
Estate Litigation, Secured Transactions, Creditor
Bankruptcy and Mortgage Foreclosure.
